Chiropractic has become one of the largest natural health care fields in the world for healing without the use of drugs or surgery. Individuals of all ages are experiencing the wonderful and highly effective results through gentle, safe and effective hands on healing.
Chiropractic’s healing premise is based on the following principles:
Master Controlling & Healing System
Your body is controlled by the Central Nervous System
Your body is a self healing organism and all of the body’s functions are controlled by the brain. This is accomplished from sending and receiving nerve impulses throughout the body. Every cell, tissue and organ are connected to your brain through the Central Nervous System. This is why we refer to it as the Master Controlling and Healing System.
Inhibited Healing System (Subluxation)
Interference Causes Pain or Discomfort
When there is interference with this communication from the brain to the spinal cord to the rest of the body, your body will be inhibited from functioning at its optimal potential. This is referred to as a Subluxation which will lead to sickness and suffering.
Gentle, safe and highly effective adjustments
A Chiropractor’s role is to remove this interference. Gentle, safe and highly effective Chiropractic adjustments help to remove these Subluxations and in turn allow your body to function and heal to its utmost potential! Chiropractic does not treat the symptoms – it treats the cause!
Your First Visit
The Chiropractic adjustment is a specific application of a gentle force utilized to correct vertebral subluxation. Your nerve system controls and coordinates all the functions of your body. If there is any interference with the signals traveling over nerves, parts of your body will not get the proper nerve messages and will not be able to function at 100% of their innate abilities. In other words, some part of your body will not be working properly.
Scientific research has also proven the direct relationship between the nervous system and the immune system. The immune system is the one that governs whether or not people will fall victim to infectious or other detrimental processes. Since the nervous system controls all functions and healing in the human body, and can be put in jeopardy by spinal dysfunction, it is imperative that everyone have optimal spinal function. The spine is the most common area which interference to the nervous system occurs. This is called the Vertebral Subluxation Complex. Only Chiropractors are trained to detect and correct these interferences in a person’s spine.
How should I feel after an adjustment?
Great! Most people experience more energy, less discomfort, more flexibility, and an overall feeling of enhanced well-being. In some patients with long-term chronic conditions, realigning the spine may also cause the muscles around the spine to be sore. This is only temporary, until the weakened muscles are strengthened. This is comparable to the discomfort felt after a good work out at the gym. The Doctor will monitor your progress very closely to ensure maximal comfort during this time of change.
How long will it take?
The healing process takes time. Depending on the severity of your spinal distortion or vertebral subluxation, the wellness plan for each patient may differ. No two people are the same, so even if two patients have the same spinal distortion, they will not heal in the same amount of time. There are three stages to consider in how long it will take to heal.
First is the initial intensive care, visits are frequent, focusing on reducing symptoms. Second is the corrective care, whereby the objective is to stabilize spinal function to complete healing. Last is wellness care were regular check-ups prevent old and new spinal problems occurring and reoccurring. You have to invest time in chiropractic care to maintain your health. The chiropractor will recommend a care schedule, depending on age, condition and lifestyle.
Retracing – the body’s Memory
Retracing is the re-experiencing or re-awakening of old pain or other symptoms that suddenly comes to the surface. This is a natural and part of the healing process, these symptoms or feeling soon pass. Over time our bodies have compensated and engrained many traumas that have never truly been dealt with. When a person suffers a trauma, accident or injury the body tissues themselves have a ‘memory’ which records the incident. Like peeling layers off an onion, Chiropractic helps to empower the body to heal and get to core of any issues.
